Graham started out working for The Blood Transfusion service before a change of career introduced him to NVQs in the 1980s. It was at Halesowen College that he became an Assessor trainer in NVQs as well as lecturing in Biomedical Sciences. It was here that Graham trained as an Assessor, Internal Verifier and External Verifier. He gained experience as an External Verifier for NEBS Management.
From Halesowen College he went on to Tarmac to become the National NVQ Training Manager overseeing a range of NVQs relating to the Quarrying Sector.
From there Graham decided he would set up Morley Young Partnership that has transformed today to Morley Young Training Services. Through his experience, network of contacts and overall skills of management and leadership Graham has built up a successful family run firm and gained a reputation of being the man who can in the NVQ arena.
James started at Tarmac as a Historian and archivist keeping the records of the well known British company up to date. From here he moved into the Insurance Industry and became a Claims Handler ensuring that people were fairly treated and received insurance payouts.
Like father like son, James had a career change and was introduced to NVQs through Graham. He gained his Assessor and Internal Verifier awards. From there, he ably assisted MYP with The Welsh Contract of training and assessing 180 Assessors and Internal Verifiers in Wales whilst simultaneously establishing 8 training centres. He now oversees the Registrations and Certifications of candidates, as well as being responsible for the day to day management of the Central Office.
Kate’s experience is in Construction Health and Safety, where she has gained over 10 years experience within CDM Co-Ordination / Health And Safety Advisor role. This was gained mainly from working with Tweeds Construction Consultancy based in Birmingham. She worked on a range of projects from small pub refurbs to new housing developments with Redrow Housing and a number of new build NHS developments. From this she is experienced insite safety audits, Policy provision and writing method statements and risk assessments along with other associated documentation.
Kate holds Associate Membership of Association of Project Safety along with Nebosh General and Construction Certificates, as well as her P405 Asbestos Management qualification. She is currently working towards her Assessor Qualification.
Martin has recently joined MYTS after a career in the Merchant Navy, and has brought with him a considerable number of. transferable skills particularly as regards to various lifting operations, including the planning and supervision of cargo operations using heavy lifting equipment using ship board cranes
After leaving the sea Martin worked for two global shipping lines in senior management positions with responsibilities for many of the company's key accounts ranging from tendering to final negotiations.
Upon retiring from shipping he took a management consultancy role advising a company in London and also training with Morley Young Training Services as an NVQ Assessor and an Internal Verifier. He has gained a number of NVQs including Controlling Lifting Operations – Planning Lifts, and has as worked assessing many candidates at all 3 levels of the Controlling Lifting Operations awards and also Construction Contracting Operations Management, Operation Work Supervision and Vehicle Marshall awards. He has worked with numerous candidates working on the HS2 Enabling Works at Euston Station and also at the London Bridge and Gatwick Stations redevelopments and candidates based as far afield as London, Wales and Scotland.
Welcome to the team Martin
John has worked in the construction industry now for over 25 years and was a welcome addition to the team as part of our integration with PHD Training & Assessment some years ago. John is a lead assessor in all areas of civil construction including formwork, steelfixing, groundworks and concrete work.
John also assesses supervision and management NVQs putting his experience in the field to good use. John is also the interface between clients and the assessors on site, meaning any issues can be rectified by meeting with both the candidates and the clients on the various work sites.
